Softball Finishes Desert Stinger 3-2 after Sunday Loss to AAU

LAS VEGAS, Nev. --     The Central Washington University softball team wrapped up the 2018 MSUB Desert Stinger with a 3-2 record after falling to Academy of Art Sunday afternoon 0-7 in its fifth and final game of the tournament.

The Wildcats tallied five hits on the day and had just two runners in scoring position all game.  Central Washington's best opportunity came in the top of the sixth inning.  Katie Kastning led the inning off with an infield single and Celine Fowler followed with a one-out single advancing Kasting to third.  Fowler stole second, but the Wildcats fouled and grounded out to end the scoring attempt.

The Urban Knights scored runs in all but the first inning, including two runs in the third and fourth.

Taelor Griffin earned two of the Wildcat's hits on the day with Fowler, Kastning and Jacie McDaniels picking up the other three.

The win was the second of the season for Academy of Art who improves to 2-3 on the season.

After the first five games of the season, Savannah Egbert leads the Wildcats in batting with a .556 batting average.  Egbert also leads the team with 10 hits, nine runs scored and three stolen bases.
