ELLENSBURG, Wash.- The Central Washington University indoor track and field team is set to travel to Seattle, Wash. to compete at the UW Indoor Open this Weekend.

"This meet will be a good tune up for the GNAC Championships for many of our athletes," CWU head coach
Kevin Adkisson said. "For others, this will be a good opportunity for them to get a meet in before transitioning to the outdoor season in a few weeks."

Ortega Named GNAC Field Athlete of the Week

HarLee Ortega has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week following her performance in the pentathlon at the Cougar Indoor over the weekend.

Ortega, a native of Payette, Idaho, has now earned GNAC Athlete of the Week honors twice in her career.
Â
Ortega improved her NCAA Championships provisional qualifying mark in the pentathlon, placing second in the event at the Cougar Indoor. Her score of 3,630 points moves her up to No. 7 in Division II this season and No. 5 on the GNAC All-Time List. In the process, Ortega placed second in the long jump (18-3) and third in the shot put (34-0), 60-meter hurdles (8.57) and high jump (5-3).

Last Time Out
The Central Washington University indoor track and field team recorded 41 top-ten finishes last week at the WSU Cougar Indoor.

Mariyah Vongsaveng won the 60-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 8.68 seconds, followed by
Sidney Trinidad in fifth (9.31 seconds).

Erykah Weems captured the 200-meter event title after recording a time of 26.00 seconds.

Ortega placed second in the pentathlon with a total of 3,630 points, followed byÂ
Ali Anderson in third (3,583 points).

Facility Info
The Dempsey indoor facility is a 307-meter Mondo track with a six lane straightaway, and a five-lane oval. For the field the Dempsey has two 160 ft. elevated long jump runways (132 ft. TJ) with Mondo overlay; two 150 ft. elevated pole vault runways with Mondo overlay; two 80 ft. right/left high jump approach areas with Mondo overlay; two reinforced throwing rings.
