ELLENSBURG, Wash.- The Central Washington University track and field team will travel to Hermiston, Ore. this week to compete at the EOU Team Challenge. Hosted by Eastern Oregon University, the meet will take place at Hermiston High School.
 
"The EOU Team Challenge should be a decent meet," CWU head coach Kevin Adkisson stated. "There will be a total of about five or six teams competing and I'm hoping we luck out with some decent weather. We will be sending a smaller group due to finals week and several of our athletes going home early for spring break. We will still send around 50 athletes to Hermiston, including our athletes who competed at nationals last week. I am looking forward to continue to build on our outdoor marks with good efforts."
 
SHINDRUK NAMED GNAC TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Junior Alexa Shindruk was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week for the first time this season. Shindruk won the 10,000 meters at the PLU Open by three minutes, crossing the line in 36:46.70. She currently leads the GNAC and Division II and is just 11 seconds off of the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying time.
 
INDOOR ALL-AMERICANS SET TO MAKE OUTDOOR DEBUT
Four Wildcats earned All-American recognition last weekend at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Kodiak Landis earned All-American honors for the second consecutive season after placing third in the heptathlon with 5,508 points. HarLee Ortega claimed eighth in the pentathlon and Ali Anderson placed eighth in the 400 to also earn All-American status. Halle Irvine rounded out the list of CWU All-Americans after capturing sixth in the pole vault after clearing a personal best height of 3.82 meters.
 
All four of these athletes will open their 2018 outdoor campaigns this week in Oregon.
