ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Mar. 25) – The Central Washington University baseball team swept its doubleheader against Saint Martin's University (4-20, 3-13) to close out the four-game series. The Wildcats (16-10, 11-5 GNAC) took game one 11-1, before winning game two 15-1.
"We played to our capabilities today," CWU Head Coach
Desi Storey said afterward. "Hitting, pitching, and fielding I was very pleased with today. We worked deep into counts at the plate and had a purpose with each swing. On the mound we worked ahead and made pitches when we needed to. Defensively, much better than yesterday."
Mackenzie Gaul (2-2) earned the win in game one. In six innings the lefty allowed just two hits, one walk, and he struck out four.
James Smith III continued his domination at the plate, finishing the game with three hits, three runs scored, and three runs batted in.
Ty Deckwa also scored thrice in game one.
The Wildcats opened the scoring in the third with a single through the left side from Smith.

Christopher Dalto then singled to right, scoring both Hassell and Heinevetter for a 6-0 lead.
Smith doubled down the line in the fourth, scoring Deckwa, before scoring on a wild pitch later in the inning.
In the fifth, a throwing error allowed

The Saints got their lone run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly, but
Vinny Guinasso roped a single to center in the eighth, scoring Smith, to reclaim a 10-run lead.
Seth Pedersen (2-1) got the win in game two. The right-hander allowed just one run, on five hits, one walk, and struck out seven, over five innings of work.
Deckwa finished game two with three this, while
Tristin Parton scored three times. Heinevetter drove three runs in, while Dalto hit a grand slam.
Central started the scoring in the second on a swinging strikeout. The ball careened off the Saints' catcher, allowing Smith to sprint home and allowing Heinevetter to reach first.
The Saints once again got their lone run on a sacrifice fly in the third.
In the fourth inning, a bases loaded balk allowed Parton to score. Later in the inning, a 6-4-3 twin killing saw the Wildcats tack on another run. Despite having two outs, the Wildcats weren't done. Deckwa singled back up the middle, scoring Ball, and giving the Wildcats a 5-1 advantage.
The Wildcats pushed nine runs across in the fifth inning. After a fielding error allowed one run to score, the Wildcats loaded the bases. Dalto struck a 1-1 pitch to right field and sent it over the wall for a grand slam and a 9-1 lead. Parton then doubled in a pair, before Heinevetter laced a two-run single to left.
The Wildcats scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth on
