GLENDALE, Colo. – The Central Washington University women's rugby team fell to Life University, 46-32.
 
"I hate losing with a passion but I am really proud of our team today," CWU Head Coach Trevor Richards said.  "We're still very early in our development process and so it is really encouraging to see the ladies putting the pieces together and exerting their physicality against a strong Life University team.  We kept the scoreline tight for the first quarter of the match but after a yellow card and playing down a player for 10 minutes, we fell further behind on the scoresheet.  The second half showed the tenacity that this team has and they fought back bravely to close Life's lead; it was an inspiring performance to say the least and it made our coaching staff happy to see that we were prepared to fight until the final whistle.  This game definitely illuminated some key areas that we need to focus on over the next couple of months before we transition into headwaters of our winter season.  I'd like to thank the large number of fans that were attendance; it felt like a home game at times and it is greatly appreciated."
 
Olivia Kauahi, Haley Abeyta, Mikayla Roberts, and Bianca Ortiz-Pallen each scored one try, while Sui A'au grounded the ball for a try twice.  Roberts added one conversion.
 
The Wildcats are back in action in February when they travel to Oregon to play Oregon Sports Union Rugby.
