ELLENSBURG, WASH. – The Central Washington University baseball team (15-28-1, 12-24) will close out their regular season on the road in Nampa, Idaho for a four-game series against Northwest Nazarene University (21-21, 17-16).

SCOUTING NORTHWEST NAZARENE
The Nighthawks come into the weekend after a series split with Saint Martin's University. The last time that NNU played Central, the Nighthawks took three of the four games. NNU put up 19 runs on 33 hits on the weekend.
NNU had four homeruns on the weekend and has 27 as a team on the year. Jesse Hilyard leads the team with five round-trippers on the year. Hilyard also leads the pitching staff in wins with a 6-1 run with a 4.35 ERA. Kyle Redford leads the team in batting average with a .336 and leads the team in RBI's with 30 on the year. Bennett Tabaracci has a batting average of .307 and is one of three hitters with three triples on the year.
The Nighthawk pitching staff has four pitchers that have thrown more than 30 innings. Cooper Webster is the only pitcher that has more than one complete game. He is second in innings pitched with 54 innings (team lead is 54.1 innings) and has thrown three complete games on the year. He also leads the team in strikeouts with 49 on the year. Jalen Fuhriman leads the team in saves (three) and averages one strikeout per inning. He has thrown 25 innings and has 25 strikeouts on the year.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats dropped four games against MSUB over the weekend and then picked up their first win in 11 games on Monday against SMU. The Wildcats played four innings against the Saint's. Monday picked up in the top of the fourth inning with
Robert Ball,
Trevor Tripoli, and
Mitch Lesmeister due up to the plate. The Wildcats went scoreless for the first two innings then added to their two run lead in the sixth inning.
Jesse Unger started the inning off with a lead off single up the middle.
Michael Peter then laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Unger to second base. Yi-fan Pan then pinch hit for
Luke Smith and grounded out to second base allowing Unger to move to third. Ball then laced a ball to center field which the Saints center fielder made an error on allowing Unger to score.
Central added another run in the top of the seventh inning after Lesmeister roped a ball down the left field line for a leadoff double.
Justin Hampson then put down a sacrifice bunt allowing Lesmeister to advance to third on the play. Two batters later,
Colton Bunt singled up the middle that drove in Lesmeister from third base.
JJ Asinas started today's continuation on the bump and was dominate on the mound. Asinas threw three innings and faced 11 batters striking out one batter while giving up just two hits. The junior didn't allow a run or walk a batter and threw 21 strikes of the 30 pitches that he threw.
Jacob Forrester came in for the bottom of the seventh inning and finished off the game. He faced four batters and struck out three of them and gave up just one hit which was a double down the left field line.
This upcoming weekend marks the last regular season games of the year and will be an uphill climb for the Wildcats to make the playoffs this year.
