ELLENSBURG, Wash. (May 17) – The Central Washington University men's basketball team has signed Xavier Smith from the University of Idaho.
"Xavier is an athletic guard with good size and length," CWU Head Coach
Brandon Rinta said. "He will have an impact on both ends of the floor as a high-level defender and his ability to use his quickness to create scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. He is a great fit for our style of play."
Smith is a 6-foot-4 guard from Seattle where he attended O'Dea High School. In 2018-19, he appeared in 30 games for Idaho and averaged 3.5 points per game. Smith added 1.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists per game and finished second on the team with 47 assists on the year.
At O'Dea, Smith averaged 22.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game as a senior. He was named a three-star recruit by ESPN and received All-Metro honors twice. He shot 50.4 percent from the floor as a senior and 80.8 from the charity stripe. During his junior year at O'Dea, he helped guide them to a state championship game.
