ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Jacob Forrester of the Central Washington University baseball team has been selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft.
Forrester appeared in 15 games for the Wildcats during the 2019 season. He recorded five saves, bringing his career total to eight. He struck out 36 hitters of 18.1 innings of work, while only allowing just five runs. Opposing hitters struggled against the right-hander, posting an average of just .148. In 61 at-bats, Forrester allowed just nine hits and five runs. He closed the season with an earned run average of 2.45.
"I want to thank Coach Storey, Coach Camus, and of course Coach Wilson who helped get me in contact with the Indians," Forrester said. "I'd like to thank the Cleveland Indians for selecting me. It's an awesome feeling."
Over his career Forrester recorded eight saves, placing him third all-time in CWU history.

Forrester will report to the Indians' spring training facility in Arizona. It is the sixth time a Wildcat has been drafted, the other Wildcats are: Billy North (1969, Chicago Cubs), Dave Heaverlo (1972 & 1973, San Diego Padres), Brandon Rohde (2012, Atlanta Braves), and CJ Gettman (2016, San Francisco Giants).
"I'm expecting a higher level of competition and players," Forrester said, "I'm excited to get the chance to just keep playing baseball."
