TURLOCK, Calif. – Central Washington University Baseball dropped both games of a doubleheader against Stanislaus State by scores of 7-3 and 11-4 on Saturday.
The Wildcats (0-3) showed signs of consistency early on in both games but never managed to establish a rhythm against the Warriors (3-0). Game one saw the Crimson and Black commit six errors despite having the edge in hits, 9-6. The Wildcats left eight runners on base in game one. The same bug bit the Wildcats in game two as they left 13 runners on base.
"I thought we did a pretty good job swinging the stick, but we need to be more consistent with runners on base in big spots," CUW Head Coach
Desi Storey said. "I thought our pitchers did a pretty good job of limiting walks today. We were around the strike zone, we pitched to contact well but we need to be better in the field. Can't win games when you make as many errors as did. Offensively, not a bad way to start with it being our second day outside, but still a long way to go."
