Former Central Washington All-American Adam Bighill led the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to their second straight Canadian Football League championship with a 33-25 overtime win against Hamilton, Sunday in the 108
th Grey Cup.

Bighill, now a 3-time Grey Cup champion (2011, 2019, 2021), on Friday was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Defensive Player, also for the third time (2015, 2018, 2021). He is just the sixth player in CFL history to win the award three times.

Bighill anchored the CFL's top-ranked defense, which led the league in fewest offensive points allowed (12.9 per game), fewest offensive touchdowns (15), lowest net offense (281.3), lowest second-down efficiency (40.3 percent), most turnovers forced (38), and lowest opponent passing efficiency (71.3). Winnipeg allowed 13.4 points per game – the ninth-fewest points per game in CFL history and the lowest mark since 1970.

In Sunday's championship game, Bighill had five tackles, including a crucial stop one play before the Bombers sealed the victory with an interception.
