LOS ANGELES, Calif.—The Central Washington women's basketball team took down the Golden Eagles from Cal State Los Angeles 70-62. The Wildcats are now 4-0 this season playing down in the Golden State.
"Very happy with the growth our team showed this week. I felt we showed improvment in each of the games we played in becoming more disciplined and trusting one another on the offensive side of the ball. These are two big wins for our girls and I'm very proud of what they did.

Samantha Bowman opened the scoring for the 'Cats winning against a double-team in the post picking up two rebounds and the opening bucket.
Kassidy Malcolm and
Kizzah Maltezo gave the 'Cats a pair of three-point jumpers to tie it up early at 10-10.
Tori Maeda found a deep jumper to cut into an offensive run by the Golden Eagles.
Early shooting struggles allowed the Golden Eagles to take the opening quarter, 20-15.
Kassidy Malcolm and the 'Cats found their footing in the second quarter.
Kizzah Maltezo and
Kassidy Malcolm came out hot to open the quarter exchanging buckets to quickly pull within two.
On back-to-back possessions
Kizzah Maltezo created space and knocked down a mid-range and three-point jumpers to take the lead, 28-27.
The Golden Eagles answered with a pair of buckets and shots from the charity stripe.
The 'Cats shot 62.5% from the field and 57.1% from beyond the arc in the second quarter, almost doubling their success from the first.
Kassidy Malcolm found her rhythm and knocked down three-straight three-point shots to extend the lead as the half came to a close. The 'Cats went into the locker room leading 39-34.
Samantha Bowman returned in the third after foul trouble early in the game, and the 'Cats began to roll.
Bowman opened the second half scoring for the 'Cats with eight of the twelve points scored. Her return and presence in the post allowed the 'Cats to hold the lead through 9:27 of the quarter, almost doubling their entire first half performance.
Claire Heitschmidt came off the bench and knocked down the final layup of the quarter as the 'Cats remained on top, 53-47.
The 'Cats were rolling, and the Golden Eagles had no answer in the final quarter. A quick 7-0 run to open the quarter by
Kizzah Maltezo propelled the 'Cats into their largest lead of the night at thirteen. The 'Cats were in front 60-47.
Kassidy Malcolm and
Samantha Bowman provided a pair of insurance buckets, and the 'Cats would close it out in the final seconds.
Twenty-eight defensive rebounds and six steals allowed the 'Cats to maintain possession and limit the Golden Eagles opportunities.
