ELLENSBURG, Wash.—Central Washington volleyball head coach Mario Andaya has announced the addition of Tia Andaya (Ellensburg, Wash.) to the roster for next fall. A setter and outside hitter, Tia Andaya joins the Wildcats after spending the least two seasons at Gonzaga.
 
"Tia is a versatile player with good experience and a ton of athleticism," Mario Andaya said. "Tia has gained valuable time as a setter the last two seasons in the West Coast Conference, and she also can attack for us on the pins. We are excited to add her to our roster this fall and for her to begin her career as student at CWU."
 
In the spring of 2021, Tia Andaya started all 18 matches for the Bulldogs, earning honorable mention All-WCC honors after finishing second in the league with 699 assists, and ranking fifth with 9.58 assists per set. She also ranked third on the team in both digs (169) and total blocks (37).
 
Tia Andaya enjoyed 30 or more assists in 14 of 18 matches last season and reached the 40-assist plateau on eight different occasions. She recorded a career-high 58 assists in a loss to St. Mary's on Feb. 15.
 
Playing in 42 career matches at Gonzaga, Tia Andaya recorded 927 assists, 6.5 assists-per-set, and 238 digs.
 
One of the top prep players in the state of Washington throughout her high school career, Tia Andaya was a 3-time Central Washington Athletic Conference Player of the Year at Ellensburg High School, and a 2-time First-Team All-State selection. As a freshman, she was named to the Max Preps Freshman All-America first team.
 
Not surprisingly, Tia Andaya also excelled on the club circuit, earning distinction as a 2018 AAU Junior Nationals 18U All-Star, while also being named to the 2017 JVA Watch List. She competed on the USA High Performance A1 Team.
