INVITATIONAL INFO
RETURNING TO A SCHEDULE
For the first time in two years, the 'Cats are making their return to a regular schedule. "We're excited to start a new season. The chance to play alone is exciting enough." Said CWU Head Coach
Mario Andaya. The 'Cats last full season was in 2019 where they posted an 18-11 overall record, 13-7 in the GNAC conference. They finished the season 3
rd in the GNAC and fell to Cal State San Bernadino in the opening round of the West Regionals.
SCOUTING THE INVITATIONAL
The crimson and black are slated to open the season against Metropolitan State University of Denver. "All of these teams will be strong matches. Now that the pre-conference schedule is done, we still need to evaluate where we're at and these games will give us a great chance to do so." Said CWU Head coach
Mario Andaya. The Roadrunners finished the 2019 season with a 23-8 overall record, 16-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Roadrunners outscored their opponents in almost every category including 13.3 kills and 15.8 digs per set.
In match number two the 'Cats are up against the Seawolves of Sonoma State. They finished the 2019 season with an 18-10 overall record finishing 9-7 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Seawolves averaged 1.9 blocks, 14.9 digs and 12.9 kills per set.
The final match for the 'Cats is scheduled against the Silverswords of Chaminade University. In 2019 the Silverswords posted a 22-8 overall record, 16-6 in the PacWest conference. As a team they averaged 12.9 kills, 17.9 digs, and 1.8 blocks per set.
THE CRIMSON AND BLACK
In 2019 the team averaged 12.9 kills, 1.5 aces, 18.1 digs, and 2.1 blocks per set. The 'Cats offense was led by then freshman
Ashley Kaufman. In her opening season with the 'Cats, Kaufman played 112 sets amassing over 280 kills on a 2.5 kills per set average. She also posted a team high 39 service aces. On the defensive side Kaufman fell 2
nd on the team in totals digs amassing 332 and averaging 2.96 per set.
Sydney Remsberg is another key player returning for the 'Cats. In 2019 she appeared in 111 sets and averaged 2.41 aces per set. On the defensive side she averaged 2.05 digs per set and a perfect 1.000 receiving percentage on the year.
