'Cats Prepare to Face Saints, Wolves

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington University volleyball is set to host the Saint Martin's Saints and the Western Oregon Wolves this weekend as they look to continue their climb in the GNAC standings.
 
First, they'll face Saint Martin's (12-7, 2-7) on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the SURC. The teams collided back on Sept. 17 in Lacey, Wash. with the Wildcats coming out on top in four sets.
 
The Saints are on a three-match losing streak, dropping matches to Seattle Pacific, Western Washington and Simon Fraser. The team is averaging 12.4 kills, 1.6 blocks and 14 digs per set.
 
Offensively, the Saints are led by Tia Allen, who has 3.69 kills per set while tacking on 2.74 digs per set. Emmy Hansen is second in kills each set with 2.06. Karla Soto records 9.63 assists each set, a team-high.
 
Abigail Halstead leads the team in digs with 3.46 digs per set. Loredana Fouonji is recording 0.74 blocks each set while Jennifer Sohe is not far behind with 0.64.
 
After taking on the Saints, the Wildcats and Western Oregon will face each other on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 1:00 p.m. The Wolves own a 7-10, 3-6 record. Last weekend, WOU beat Simon Fraser in five sets and got swept by Western Washington.
 
On Sept. 15, the 'Cats swept Western Oregon in Monmouth, Ore. On that night, Tia Andaya posted a triple-double (18 kills, 23 assists, 13 digs). Ashley Kaufman registered a team-high 18 kills.
 
The Wolves average 12.5 kills, 1.7 blocks and 13.2 digs per set. They have an attacking percentage of .189 while holding their opponents to a percentage of .229.
 
WOU has three players above 2.35 kills per set (Madison Hornback, Sarah Crowell, and Bailee Hartsock). The Wolves also two players with over five assists per set (Emily West and Laney O'Neil). Sophia Casarez follows closely behind, averaging 4.71 assists per set.
 
Delaney Smith leads Western Oregon in blocks per set with 0.80. Chloe Asciutto is second in that category with 0.72 blocks in each set. Ally Henry leads the Wolves in digs per set (3.56).
 
The Wildcats enter the weekend with a 10-7, 5-4 record. Last weekend started out rough for the 'Cats, getting swept #9 Alaska Anchorage. CWU returned the favor to the other Alaska school, sweeping Alaska Fairbanks on Oct. 8.
 
The Crimson and Black average 12.6 kills, 2.5 blocks and 13.2 digs per set. Kaufman continues to lead the 'Cats in kills per set (3.09). Andaya's stat line entering the weekend is 2.88 kills, 5.22 assists, 1.72 digs and 0.66 blocks per set. Sydney Remsberg leads the team in assists per set (5.46).
 
Emma Daoud-Hebert continues to stay hot at the net, averaging 1.43 blocks per set. Hannah Stires posts 4.25 digs each set, a team-high.
