Box Score CANYON, Texas - The Central Washington University football team fell to the West Texas A&M Buffaloes by a final score of 16-35 on Saturday, dropping their record to 4-3, 4-2 in Lone Star Conference play.

"From the opening kickoff to the very end of the game, they absolutely got after us at both ends of the field," Head Coach
Chris Fisk said.

Quincy Glasper started the game at QB for the Wildcats but was pulled after some early offensive miscues.
JJ Lemming, the reigning LSC Offensive Player of the Week, played the majority of the game at QB. He had 13 completions on 28 attempts for 126 yards and zero touchdowns.

Tre'jon Henderson rushed for 75 yards on 21 attempts for two touchdowns.
Demonte Horton led Wildcat receivers with four receptions for 38 yards.
Marcus Cook logged four receptions for 48 yards.

Defensively,
Jahleel Breland led the team in tackles (10).
Tanner Volk registered eight tackles.
Daeon Hudson recorded eight tackles and a fumble recovery.

At QB for the Buffaloes, Nick Gerber had 12 completions on 19 attempts for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Brian Okoye rushed for 83 yards on 24 attempts for one touchdown.

CWU started the game on defense. On the opening kickoff, West Texas' returner Tyler Sweet returned it 91 yards to the CWU eight-yard line. The Buffaloes capitalized, scoring on a QB keeper as the Wildcats fell behind 0-7.

On offense, things continued to get worse. Glasper's first pass in his return resulted in an interception. WT took over at the CWU 45-yard line. They drove down the field again and this time Gerber found Kris Sims in the endzone for a 12-yard strike. Less than five minutes into the game, the Crimson and Black were down 0-14.

Late in the first quarter, the Wildcats took over at the WT 38-yard line. The CWU offense garnered some momentum, getting inside the redzone. On 3rd and 3 at the WT 13-yard line, a bad handoff between Glasper to Henderson resulted in a fumble, recovered by the Buffaloes. The first quarter ended 0-14.

On the possession following the fumble, the CWU defense pushed West Texas backwards, forcing a punt.

The Buffaloes got the ball back with 12:24 left in the second quarter. On 3rd and 9, the CWU defense gifted WT a new set of downs on a defensive holding penalty. The Wildcats got punished as Brian Okoye scored an 18-yard rushing touchdown. The deficit continued to grow 0-21 with 9:30 remaining in the half.

Later in the half, the Buffaloes attacked again. Gerber found Hunter Kaufman on an 18-yard dot. The 'Cats trailed 0-28 at halftime.

The Wildcats started the second half with a drive that took over six minutes but the offense failed to find the endzone. CWU settled for a 27-yard field goal from
Jude Mullette to get on the scoreboard with a score of 3-28.

On their first possession of the second half, the Buffaloes had the ball for over seven minutes. Shakell Brown entered the game for West Texas on 4th and Goal from the CWU 1-yard line and punched it in, widening the gap to 3-35.

CWU had a possession start at the WT 40-yard line with 9:01 remaining in the fourth quarter. On 4th and 1, Henderson found a hole, breaking out a 31-yard touchdown run to cut the deficit to 10-35 with 8:13 left in the game.

On West Texas' next possession, Jarred Compton fumbled the ball and
Daeon Hudson picked it up, running it back to the WT 21-yard line. Henderson punched it in from five yards out for his second touchdown of the night. The two-point conversion was no good as the score was 16-35 with 2:26 remaining. Neither team scored with the time left on the clock and the final score was 16-35

The Wildcats (4-3, 4-2) will host #15 Texas A&M-Kingsville at Tomlinson Stadium next Saturday, Oct. 29, at 6:00 p.m.

"Things aren't about to get any easier for us. We have #15 Texas A&M-Kingsville and #3 Angelo State up next," Coach Fisk said. "We're going to get back to Ellensburg, get to work, and decide what kind of season we're going to have and how we're going to send out our senior class."
