Wildcats Return to Ellensburg to Face #9 Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Fairbanks

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - After splitting their road matches last weekend, the Central Washington University volleyball team comes home to face both Alaska schools.
 
On Thursday, Oct. 6, the Wildcats will face off against the #9 Alaska Anchorage Seawolves at 7:00 p.m. in the SURC. The Seawolves are a perfect 7-0 in conference play, having only given up three sets total through those matches. Their overall record is 17-1, with their only loss coming to Florida Southern back on Sept. 2.
 
UAA is led by Eve Stephens who's recorded four GNAC Offensive Player of the Week awards through the season so far. Stephens has been dominant, averaging over 4.5 kills per set with an attacking percentage of .376. She's added 2.39 digs per set and 0.68 blocks per set.
 
Ellen Lloyd leads the Seawolves in assists per set (10.4) and is averaging 2.6 digs per set. Isabel Evans leads the UAA defense at the net with 0.88 blocks per set.
 
As a team, Anchorage has held opposing offenses to an attacking percentage of only .150.
 
After taking on Alaska Anchorage, the 'Cats will take on the Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 1:00 p.m. in the SURC. The Nanooks don a 13-6 record, 3-4 in GNAC play. They most recently suffered losses to Western Washington and Alaska Anchorage.
 
Averaging 2.82 kills per set, Alaska Fairbanks is led by Rilee White, who also logs 2.17 digs per set. Ainsley Smith leads UAF in assists per set (5.54). Defensively, the Nanooks have two players averaging over one block per set (Elizabeth Jackson & Kristina Head). Jessa Long leads the team in digs per set (4.61).
 
The Wildcats return home with a 9-6, 4-3 record. Last weekend, they lost 1-3 at Western Washington and won a 3-2 nail-biter at Simon Fraser.
 
Ashley Kaufman leads the Wildcats in kills per set (3.24) and is registering 2.14 digs each set. Tia Andaya has just under three kills per set along with 5.24 assists, 1.69 digs and 0.66 blocks each set. Fresh off of winning GNAC Defensive Player of the Week, Hannah Stires is leading the team in digs per set (4.14). Emma Daoud-Hebert is logging 1.42 blocks per set, a team-high.
