Wildcats Set to Host Wolves on Saturday

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington Wildcats (3-1, 3-0) look to expand from a 45-17 win at Eastern New Mexico last weekend as they take on the Western Oregon Wolves at Tomlinson Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 6:00 p.m.
 
Saturday's game, sponsored by Orthopedics Northwest, will be the first of the season with students back on campus and the band performing. Ticket information can be found HERE. The Wildcats will be wearing crimson uniforms against Western Oregon, so fans are encouraged to join them and wear crimson this Saturday.

PREVIEWING WESTERN OREGON
Through their first five games of the season, Western Oregon is 1-4, 0-4 in Lone Star Conference play. Last Saturday, Oct. 1, the Wolves lost to #3 Angelo State at home by a score of 7-30.
 
The Wolves only win of the year so far came at home against Lincoln University (CA), as WOU won 42-10.
 
Western Oregon is averaging 21.60 points per game. The Wolves offense is putting up 347 yards per game, most of which comes through the air. But, the WOU running game averages almost 120 yards on the ground.
 
On the defensive side of the ball, Western Oregon's opponents are scoring an average of 28 points per game. Teams haven't struggled to generate offensive production against the Wolves defense, garnering over 310 yards per game.
 
Leading Western Oregon is Quarterback Gannon Winker. In five games, he has 86 completions for 1,138 yard, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions. Winker has a 51.19% completion percentage on the season.
 
The Western Oregon rushing game is led by Omari Dixon-Land, a redshirt senior. Dixon-Land has gained 487 yards on 93 attempts for four rushing touchdowns. No other WOU rusher has more than 100 yards rushing.
 
Wide Receiver Thomas Wright leads all Western Oregon receivers with 317 yards on 15 catches for two receiving touchdowns.
 
Linebacker Jaylin Parnell leads all Wolves in tackles (42), which is 12 more than any other Western Oregon defensive player. Parnell also leads the team in sacks (6) and tackles for loss (7).
 
GAME HISTORY VS. WOU
The Wildcats are 36-11 all-time against the Wolves. In 2021, the teams faced off twice, as the Wildcats won the first matchup in Monmouth Ore. by a score of 45-14.
 
The second matchup of the 2021 season between the teams happened at Tomlinson Stadium on Oct. 23, 2021. The Wildcats won that battle 53-21. On the night, Quincy Glasper passed for 144 yards on 10 completions for one touchdown. Glasper added 66 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown to his performance. The top CWU receiver on the night was Darius Morrison, who accounted for 102 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns.
 
For the defense, Jahleel Breland logged eight tackles. Dominic Wieburg and Daeon Hudson registered six tackles each. The defense recorded a combined two sacks and two interceptions on the night.
 
ROAD TRIP RECAP
Since the Wildcats have last played at Tomlinson Stadium, they've traveled to Simon Fraser and Eastern New Mexico, collecting wins in both matchups. Going into Saturday's matchup, the Crimson and Black are 3-1 overall, 3-0 in LSC play.
 
On Saturday, Sept. 17, CWU took care of business at Simon Fraser 40-7. In the air, Glasper threw for 231 yards on 12 completions for two touchdowns and one interception. Glasper tacked on an additional 79 yards rushing with one rushing touchdown.
 
The Wildcat's leading rusher was Tre'jon Henderson, who rushed for 92 yards on 19 attempts for two touchdowns.
 
Morrison led Wildcat receivers with four receptions for 78 yards and one touchdown. Payton Glasser had three receptions for 71 yards and one touchdown. Marcus Cook logged three receptions for 65 yards.
 
Brett Accimus, Sonny Fuavai and Hudson led the defense in tackles with six each. Tanner Volk and Breland added five tackles each. The Wildcat defense logged six total sacks for 47 yards, thanks to Accimus, Hudson, Fuavai, Kai Gamble, Tyeson Thomas, Josiah Cochran and Jaylen Clay.
 
Following a bye week, the 'Cats traveled to Portales N.M. where they pounced on the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds 45-17. Henderson continued to showcase his rushing prowess, exploding for 152 yards and three touchdowns, earning his second LSC Offensive Player of the Week award this season.
 
Against ENMU, Glasper threw for 13 completions on 21 attempts for 266 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also tacked on two rushing touchdowns.
 
Demonte Horton led Wildcat receivers, registering four receptions for 77 yards. Marcus Cook had one reception for 67 yards and one touchdown.
 
Accimus led the Wildcats in tackles (7). Patrick Rogers and Breland logged six tackles each. Breland also added a forced fumble. Sean Gordon and Wieburg had 0.5 sacks each.
