ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington University volleyball team rebounded from Thursday's loss to Alaska Anchorage in a massive way, sweeping the Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-4).
"I was impressed with the energy today. The team regrouped from a tough outing Thursday and came out ready," Head Coach
Mario Andaya said. "These matches rae important and the team responded the right way."

The Wildcats hit .319 on the day and limited the Nanooks to a hitting percentage of 0.51.

Emma Daoud-Hebert led the way with a team-high seven blocks to pair with nine kills.
Kylie Thorne had the most kills for the Wildcats (10).
Tia Andaya had an eight-kill, 15-assist, eight-dig performance.
Sydney Remsberg recorded 15 assists.
Ashley Kaufman led the team in digs (14).

Neither team could find an edge early in the first set as both teams were knotted up at 10-10. UAF proceeded to rattle off four straight points. The Wildcats returned the favor, tying it up at 14-14 thanks to kills from Daoud-Hebert, Thorne and Remsberg.

At 21-20, the 'Cats took command, taking four of the final six points as Andaya clinched the final point and CWU won 25-22.

The Wildcats jumped out to an early 11-3 lead in the second set. UAF showed some fight, bringing it all the way back to 22-20. At this point, Andaya took over again, recording the final three kills to win the second set 25-21.

CWU executed all over the court in the third set. In the blink of an eye, the Crimson and Black had a 11-0 lead. At 14-2, the Wildcats rattled off seven straight points to make it 21-2. CWU kept their foot on the peddle and closed out the third set 25-4.

After today's win, the Wildcats record sits at 10-7 overall, 5-4 in GNAC play. They'll stay home next weekend as they're slated to face off against Saint Martin's on Thursday, Oct 13 at 7:00 p.m. Western Oregon will come to town for a match on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 1:00 p.m.
"The second half of conference play will be an exciting race," Andaya said.
