Wildcats, Nighthawks to Clash in Regular Season Finale

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington University volleyball team is set to clash against the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks in the final game of the regular season at the SURC on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 7:00 p.m.

The Wildcats enter the match ranked sixth in the West Regional Rankings. The top eight teams in the region will make the NCAA Division II West Region Tournament. The Division II Volleyball Selection Show is Sunday, Nov. 13, at 7:00 p.m.

The team is set to honor three student-athletes (Tia Andaya, Sydney Remsberg, and Alyssa Smith) for their academic achievements ahead of Saturday's game. Stay tuned for an article about that later this week.

The Nighthawks travel to Ellensburg with a 16-9, 9-8 record. Most recently, NNU traveled to Alaska, losing in four sets to #6 Alaska Anchorage and losing a five-set thriller to Alaska Fairbanks.

Back on Sept. 10, the Wildcats faced the Nighthawks in Nampa, Id. in their GNAC opener. NNU put together a complete performance, sweeping the 'Cats. Olivia Wright led the Nighthawks in kills (13) and added three blocks. Mckenzie Lee logged 35 blocks and seven assists, both team-highs. Natalie Sullivan had a 10-kill, 12-dig performance.

For the Wildcats, Andaya logged 15 kills, a team-high, and 11 assists. Remsberg led the team in assists (20). As a whole, the team had a .189 hitting percentage. NNU had a much better performance on offense, logging a .340 hitting percentage.

The Nighthawks average 12.9 kills, 2.2 blocks and 16.6 digs per set. Sullivan has registered 3.56 kills per frame, good for second in the GNAC, and Wright follows just behind her in third (3.45). Lee leads the GNAC in assists per set (10.59). Anna Gable's 1.18 blocks per frame is fourth in the conference. Caroline McMahon logs a team-high 4.53 digs per set, which is second among GNAC athletes.

Similar to NNU, the Wildcats are coming off a road trip to Alaska. The Crimson and Black split their matches, beating Alaska Fairbanks in four sets and falling to #6 Alaska Anchorage in straight sets.

Emma Daoud-Hebert remains first in the nation in blocks per frame (1.54). Ashley Kaufman is sixth in the conference in kills per set (3.07). Sydney Remsberg logs 5.56 assists per frame, a team-high. Andaya's current season statline sits at 2.61 kills, 5.41 assists, 1.78 digs and 0.74 blocks per set. Hannah Stires records 4.33 digs per frame, which is third in the GNAC.
