Samantha Bowman delivered 24 points and
Kassidy Malcolm 20, but Central Washington could not keep pace with Alaska Anchorage Monday night in an 89-81 loss.
"I'm happy with our start, but UAA wore us down in the half and made more plays," said Central Washington Head Coach
Randi Richardson-Thornley. "We struggled to defend and that ultimately cost us the game."
The Seawolves (18-5 overall, 11-4 GNAC) extend their winning streak over the Wildcats (18-7, 11-5) to 19 straight games.
Bowman grabbed 14 rebounds, four blocks, and picked up for steals in tonight's game.
Kizzah Maltezo added 17 points, emerging as Central Washington's single-season leader in three-point field goals made (72) in the process.
Maltezo scored 11 of her 17 points in the first two quarters, leading CWU to a 45-34 lead over UAA just before the half.
Out of the half the Malcolm scored on back-to-back possessions giving the Wildcats their largest lead of the night 49-34.
The Seawolves offense kicked it into another gear down by 15, scoring 28 points shooting 11-20 from the field and 4-8 from the three-point line to pull back within two at the end of the third quarter.
Unable to hold onto to their lead even after Anchorage committed 16 personal fouls and 16 turnovers, the Wildcats were outscored 27-17 in the final quarter.
Tennae Voliva led the Seawolves scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, picking up her sixth double-double of the season.
The Wildcats continue conference play this Thursday, February 24
th. Central will host Montana State Billings and tip off at 5:15 p.m.
