ELLENSBURG, Wash.—Central Washington women's rugby makes its long-awaited 2022 home debut on Saturday when the Wildcats host Seattle Rugby Club. Kickoff is set for noon at Tomlinson Stadium.
After multiple cancellations and postponements, the Wildcats (1-2) return home for the first time since hosting Life in the D1 Elite playoffs last April.
THE MATCHUP
This will be the second meeting between the Wildcats and Seattle Rugby Club this season. CWU went to the west side on Feb. 26 and came back with an impressive 29-5 victory.
Seattle Rugby Club hasn't played since that match.
SERIES HISTORY
Central and Seattle Rugby Club first met back in 2015, as the Saracens handed the Wildcats a 27-14 loss in Seattle.
Since then, the Wildcats have won three of four meetings between the teams.
QUOTING HEAD COACH MATTHEW RAMIREZ
"Its going to feel great. It's the first home game for us with fans in two plus years. The ladies deserve that and so I'm excited for them to finally get in front of the home crowd. Seattle Rugby Club is incredibly well coached and they're a smart, veteran team. I'm sure they've been working on how to attack us differently. I'm looking for growth out of our team from one game to the next. We need to execute better on both sides of the ball, and I'm looking for them to maybe be a bit calmer when the game begins. I know they'll be excited, but I know they'll get things sorted out. We can't wait."
