Wildcats Swept by Warriors

ELLENSBURG, Wash.—Big innings and big individual performances helped lead Lewis-Clark State to a doubleheader sweep at Central Washington, Thursday at CWU Baseball Field. The NAIA No. 3-ranked Warriors swept the Wildcats, 11-1 and 18-5.
 
Lewis-Clark State (29-1 overall) put crooked numbers up during six different innings of the doubleheader including three runs in the first inning of the opener, and eight runs in the first inning of game two.
 
Shortstop Riley Way had a monster afternoon for the Warriors, driving in nine total runs, including eight in the nightcap when his first inning grand slam propelled the Warriors to an 8-0 lead.
 
Right fielder Aidan Nagle blasted a pair of home runs in the second game and knocked in eight runs overall.
 
Central's Austin Ohland hit his fifth home run of the season in game two and finished the doubleheader 3-for-7 with three RBI. Zach Berryman and Tyler McClain each had two hits in the nightcap for the Wildcats (8-17).
 
Trent Sellers (7-0) earned the victory for LCSC in the opener, tossing 5.0 inning of 3-hit ball, striking out seven and walking two. Dylan Weese (0-2) took the loss for the Wildcats.
 
In game two, the Warriors used five pitchers over seven innings, with reliever Dawson Day (4-0) securing the victory. Reid Rasmussen (0-2) was saddled with the loss for the Wildcats.
 
The Wildcats take the rest of the weekend off before resuming Great Northwest Athletic Conference play next weekend when they host Saint Martin's in a four-game series, beginning with a Saturday, March 26 doubleheader.
