LONG BEACH, Calif. – With its final meet of the trip to the Golden State, Central Washington finished the day with a batch of strong marks at the Beach Invitational Saturday afternoon.
"Not a bad performance overall today," Central Washington Head Coach
Kevin Adkisson said. "We got a lot of good marks throughout the weekend. We will have a late night getting back home, but overall, it was a phenomenal experience for our group."
Zachary Sundt found the Wildcats a top twenty finish in the men's 1500-meter, finishing with a final time of 3:56.28. The mark was a personal best by just under a whole two seconds.
Drew Klein had a series of strong finishes, closing out the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.73 seconds and the men's pole vault with a final height of 4.22 meters (13' 10").
Avery Fisk had success in the women's discus with a final mark of 39.11 meters (128' 3").
Jacob Thompson found himself a new season-best finish in the men's pole vault with a final height of 4.52 meters (14' 10").
Lauryn Chandler had a lifetime day in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Chandler finished with a final time of 14.23 seconds, a Great Northwest Athletic Conference provisional mark. Chandler also had a strong showing in the women's 100-meter dash with a final time of 13.25 seconds.
Zachary Davis and
Bobby Widmar raced to back-to-back finishes in the men's 100-meter dash. Davis led the pair with a final time of 11.10 seconds with Widmar in tow with a time of 11.11 seconds.
McCall DeChenne rounded out the Wildcats Day with a top twenty finish in the women's 400-meter hurdles DeChenne finished with a final time of 1:02.55.
Central Washington continues their outdoor season next week at home in Ellensburg. The Wildcats will host the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday, April 23
rd. More information regarding the meet will be released later in the week.
