TURLOCK, Calif. – Central Washington University softball split day two of the Tournament of Champions, picking up a win over Azusa Pacific, 4-2, before falling to Dominican, 7-5.

GAME ONE | CWU 4, APU 2
Rhaney Harris (8-7) nabbed her eighth win of the season for the Wildcats (14-17) after tossing a complete game against Azusa Pacific (26-14). She allowed just six hits, two runs, and one walk, while adding two strikeouts.
Sydney Sahhar (6-6) was charged with the loss. She pitched seven innings and allowed four runs on six hits.
After a scoreless first two innings, the Wildcats put the first run on the board. A wild pitch with the bases loaded allowed
Harlee Carpenter to score from third. An inning later, A two-out single from
Taylor Kai and
Karsyn Decker reaching on an error, set the table for Carpenter to double to right center for a 3-0 lead.
Keegan Wise came around to score, after pinch running for
Allie Thiessen who doubled, in the top of the seventh when
Brooke Jordan reached on an error.
The Cougars opened the final frame with consecutive singles. Harris forced a pop-out for the first out. Back-to-back hits plated two, before Harris forced a line out. She struck out the final hitter on three pitches to seal the victory.
Thiessen finished with a pair of hits. Carpenter tallied a pair of RBI, while Jordan added one.
GAME TWO | DU 7, CWU 5
A two-run single from
Myiah Seaton gave the Crimson and Black a 2-0 lead in the first inning against Dominican (14-24).
The Penguins erased the deficit in third when a throwing error allowed a pair of unearned runs to score. After being held scoreless in the fourth, Dominican plated two in the fifth on an RBI-single and a sacrifice fly.
Central's bats had been held quiet since the first when Jordan drove in Thiessen with a double in the bottom of the fifth.
An inning later,
Riana Abeshima reached on a throwing error to allow
Jillian Hampson to score. Hampson led off the inning with a single. Abeshima came around later in the inning when
Makenna King laced a single of her own.
The Penguins strung a pair of hits together in the top of the seventh after a swinging strikeout opened the inning. A three-run home run vaulted the Penguins on top, 7-5.
Hampson reached on a single in the final frame, though Central was unable to score her.
Isabel Womack went 4.1 innings and allowed just two hits. Only two of the four runs she allowed were earned.
Makayla Miller (0-1) was charged with the loss. She allowed three earned runs, on four hits, in 2.1 innings of work.
