Bowman Leads Nation in Rebounding, Double-Doubles

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – After a historic season leading Central Washington to its first-ever Great Northwest Athletic Conference Tournament Championship and West Regional win, Samantha Bowman was recognized as the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball statistical champion in both rebounds per game and double-doubles.

Bowman, a 6-3 center from Zillah, Wash., was a pivotal piece of Central's efforts throughout the season. Bowman ended the campaign averaging 16.2 points, 15.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.

Her rebounding average led not only Division II, but all of the NCAA this season in rebounding. Additionally, she broke the school record in single-game rebounds not once, but twice in the same season.

In Central Washington's season-opening 67-66 win over Stanislaus, Bowman recorded a program-record 23 rebounds. Just a month later against Concordia Irvine, Bowman topped her previous program-record with 29 rebounds in the 75-63 overtime win against the Eagles. The 29-rebound effort is the highest single-game across all NCAA Divisions in the 2021-22 season.

In 30 games, Bowman recorded 26 double-doubles. Additionally, Bowman also posted four 20-point and 20-rebound efforts.

Her accomplishments throughout the season garnered D2CCA First-Team All-Region honors, First-Team All-GNAC honors, as well as being named the GNAC Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player.

Bowman's 15.9 rebounds per game and 477 total rebounds this season are both Central Washington and Great Northwest Athletic Conference single-season records. Additionally, Bowman is currently the Central Washington career rebound average leader with 8.6 per game.
