Women's Rugby Has Five Selected For D1 Elite All-America Honors

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Five Central Washington University women's rugby players earned D1 Elite All-America honors, the College Rugby Association of America announced.

Tessa Hann and Keia Mae Sagapolu were both selected to the first team. Georgia Budd, Lauren Odette, and Maryjane Pasioles earned second team selections. Hann, Sagapolu, and Pasioles were also named finalists for the Sorenson Award, the highest award in collegiate rugby, earlier this spring

"What an honor for these student-athletes to be selected to receive D1 Elite All-America honors," CWU Head Coach Matt Ramirez said. "It's great to see these players get recognized for their play during the season, but you add that to that quality of teammates they have been this past season and it's truly something special. Extremely proud of this group and their impact on this program."

Hann, a sophomore openside flanker, led the Wildcats with 71 tackles and a try against Seattle. Sagapolu finished the season with a team-high 78 carries, 63 of which were positive carries. A senior tighthead prop for the 'Cats, Sagapolu added a pair of tries, offensively.

Odette served as a lock for the Crimson and Black, recording 59 tackles and a tackle completion percentage of 0.880. Budd, a sophomore hooker, was a key cog in Central's lineout and scrum set pieces. Pasioles, a senior outside center, notched 45 positive carries on the season. She also notched a try against Brigham Young University.
