Box Score LACEY, Wash. - The Central Washington University volleyball team squared off against the Saint Martin's Saints on Saturday, defeating them in four sets (25-12, 25-21, 22-25, 25-10).
"We saw things really well tonight so that and the things we worked on in practice was evident," Head Coach
Mario Andaya said. "SMU has a lot of pieces offensively so we needed to be on high alert for what was coming at us."

Another game, another double-double for
Tia Andaya. This time she registered 17 kills, a team-high, and 19 assists.

Emma Daoud-Hebert had 14 kills and four blocks.
Ashley Kaufman recorded 13 kills and 10 digs. Abby Snethan led the team in blocks (6).
Sydney Remsberg led the team in assists (30).
Hannah Stires led the team in digs (13).
Marianna Payne had seven kills and four blocks.

"Emma had a great night. Â Syd and Tia connected with her well and she was a force at the net. Â Tia and Ashley were terminal and ended some big rallys for us. Pretty good teammate effort defensively," Andaya said.
The Wildcats had an attacking percentage of .367 and held the Saints to .120. CWU out-blocked SMU 21-5.

The Wildcats jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the first set, thanks to kills from Andaya, Payne, Snethan, and an ace from
Shaunessy Fisk. At 8-6, the 'Cats went on a run, taking 12 of the next 15 points.

After that run, the Wildcats led 20-9. CWU didn't let the Saints get close and back-to-back kills by Daoud-Hebert closed the set out 25-12.

The second set ended up being closer than the first, with both teams tied at 4-4 early. CWU took six of the next seven points to take a commanding 10-5 lead. The Saints attempted to battle back and stayed within striking distance, with the Wildcats leading late at 22-20.

After calling a timeout, the 'Cats responded by taking three of the next four points. Kills from Daoud-Hebert and Andaya sealed the set 25-21.

The Wildcats and Saints battled back and forth to start the third set, and the teams were knotted up at 15-15. The 'Cats took the next three points, forcing an SMU timeout at 18-15.

Out of the timeout, the Saints responded by taking six of the next eight points as the Wildcats fell behind 20-21. SMU finished the set out strong as the 'Cats dropped the set 22-25.

CWU opened the fourth set with a 7-0 run. The Saints fought back a little, cutting the deficit to 14-8, but the 'Cats kept their foot on the pedal.

The Wildcats rattled off seven straight points again, this time to take a 21-8 lead. Daoud-Hebert, Andaya and Payne logged kills on the run. The lead was too large for the Saints to make a comeback and the 'Cats finished the set convincingly by a score of 25-10.

Tonight's win over the Saints makes the Wildcat's record 7-4. After spending their first 11 matches on the road, the 'Cats will return to Ellensburg. Their home opener is this upcoming Thursday, Sept. 22, against the MSU Billings Yellowjackets. The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the SURC.
"Don't know if we've had a stretch like this on the road before but we did some nice things and got some key wins. Â It will be nice to finally spend a week at home," Andaya said.
