BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Central Washington University volleyball team is back in action this weekend on the road. They'll battle against the #12 Western Washington University Vikings and the Simon Fraser Red Leafs.

The Wildcats will take on the Vikings on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7:00 p.m. WWU, a nationally-ranked team all season, boasts a 9-4,4-1 record. The Vikings are averaging 12.7 kills, 2.4 blocks and 14.7 digs per set.

WWU has four players averaging over 2.40 kills per set (Calley Heilborn, Chloe Roetcisoender, Gabby Gunterman, Olivia Fairchild). Malia Aleaga leads the team in assists (496). Defensively, Roetcisoender and Fairchild average over one block per set. Heilborn and Kasey Woodruff have over 3.40 digs per set.

In 2021, the Vikings posted a 25-5 record, advancing all the way to the NCAA Division II National Semifinal, losing to Washburn. In their deep postseason run, they ended the Wildcat's season in the NCAA West Regional Semifinal. Thursday's matchup is the first between the teams since then.

The 'Cats will cross into Canada for a matchup against Simon Fraser on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 7:00 p.m. The Red Leafs have a 5-9, 2-3 record and are on three match-losing streak.

SFU averages 11.1 kills, 2.1 blocks and 13.4 digs per set. Offensively, the Red Leafs are led by Brooke Dexter (2.93 kills per set) and Serena Gentile (6.04 assists per set). On defense, Ava Khademi leads the team in digs per set (3.13) and Kalyn Hartmann leads the team in blocks per set (1.09).

The Wildcats enter the weekend with an 8-5, 3-2 record. Most recently, the team split their action in their home-opening weekend. The 'Cats beat MSU Billings 3-1 and lost to Seattle Pacific 2-3.

On the season, CWU is averaging 12.7 kills, 2.6 blocks and 12.2 digs per set.
Emma Daoud-Hebert leads all Division II athletes in blocks per set (1.48).
Ashley Kaufman leads the 'Cats with 3.20 kills per set.
Tia Andaya is averaging 2.82 kills, 5.16 assists and 1.78 digs per set.
Hannah Stires leads the team in digs per set (3.82).
Sydney Remsberg leads the team in assists per set (5.64).
