BELLINGHAM, Wash. - After taking the first set against #12 Western Washington University, the Central Washington University volleyball couldn't convert the upset bid, dropping the match in four sets (25-21, 23-25, 19-25, 18-25).

Tia Andaya had another double-double (15 kills, 24 assists) for the Wildcats, and was only two digs shy of her third triple-double of the season.
Sydney Remsberg had a double-double with 25 assists, a team-high, and 10 digs.

Ashley Kaufman led the 'Cats in kills (16).
Abby Snethen had a team-high five blocks along with four kills.
Emma Daoud-Hebert had four blocks and four kills.
Marianna Payne registered 11 kills.

Chloe Roetcisoender had a night for the Vikings, tallying 14 kills and seven blocks. She had an attacking percentage of .565. Calley Hailborn had a 12-kill performance for WWU, along with three blocks. Malia Aleaga led the Vikings in assists (42).

In the first set, both teams traded points as the score was tied at 7-7 early. The Vikings went on a run, taking five of the next six points. But, the Wildcats responded with a bigger run of their own. They took eight of the next 10 points, finished with a couple of kills by Kaufman, to take a 16-14 lead.

WWU narrowed the lead to just one point for the 'Cats as they held a 19-18 advantage. But CWU didn't squander their lead and a Fisk ace won the set for the Wildcats 25-21. The Vikings hadn't dropped a set at home all season prior to this set.

CWU kept their momentum rolling into the second set, jumping out to a 6-1 lead. The Vikings slowly started to cut the deficit and eventually tied it at 17-17. Both teams exchanged the next four points and the set was tied 19-19.

WWU found its stride when it mattered most, taking six of the next 10 points as the Wildcats lost a nail-biter of a second set by a score of 23-25

CWU fell behind early in the third set as the score was 8-14. The 'Cats went on a small run, taking four of the next five, to cut the lead to 12-15. Whenever the Wildcats looked to generate some momentum, the Vikings halted it. WWU left no doubt and the 'Cats dropped the set 19-25.

WWU had another hot start in the fourth set as the Wildcats fell behind 1-7. Followed by back-to-back Payne kills, CWU cut the deficit to 10-14. The Vikings put more pressure on, taking six of the next eight points.

CWU failed to string more than two points together, limiting themselves from coming back. They never got closer than four points behind and lost the fourth and final set 18-25.

The Wildcats (8-6, 3-3) travel up into Canada for a matchup against the Saint Martin's Red Leafs on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 7:00 p.m.
