Wildcats Score 102 Points in Entertaining Home Victory

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington thumped Walla Walla 102-54 on Saturday night. The 'Cats built a 12-point lead early, stretched it to 40 in the second half, and coasted to the home victory. Maverick Sanders scored 24 points and corralled seven rebounds.

"You know it's a great defensive effort when you hold a team under 30% from the floor. That is hard to do. The ball movement was fun to watch on the offensive end as we were able to create 23 assists on 38 field goals."

NOTABLE STATS
  • Anjaylo Lloyd scored 20 points, Bradley Swillie put up 14, and Cavin Holden had ten.
  • The 'Cats made 11 threes and went 15-17 from the charity stripe.
  • The Wildcats won the rebound battle 52-37 and defensively, Central Washington held Walla Walla to 29.7% from the field.

FIRST HALF
  • Walla Walla put up the first points of the game. Then, Swillie came down the floor and popped in an elbow three. From that point, the 'Cats went on a 14 to 0 run to take an early 12-point lead.
  • Joshua Mireles nailed a three for the Wolves, which made it 25-13 in favor of Central Washington.
  • The Wildcats ended the half on a 26-6 run highlighted by a dunk from Cavin Holden.
  • Central Washington's defense was stifling the entire half, holding the Wolves to 19 points. At the break the 'Cats led 51-19.

SECOND HALF
  • Mitch Brizee caught fire to start the second half. He slammed home a dunk and followed that up with a hard layup to extend Central Washington's lead to 37.
  • Andrew Vaughan and Soren Dalan found their rhythm answering the 'Cats points with threes and layups of their own which helped the Wolves over the 30-point mark.
  • Bradley Swillie hit one from beyond the arc to spark a 9-3 run for the Wildcats.
  • Central Washington finished the game with 11 three pointers on their way to the 102-54 victory.
