ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington softball team (12-11, 3-1 GNAC) took the series win over Western Washington (12-12, 4-4 GNAC) after gaining a split in today's double-header, dropping game one 0-3 before bouncing back for the 8-4 victory in game two.

GAME 1
SCORING:
- The Vikings broke the deadlock in the top of the third inning as Kinzey Williams singled to center field allowing McKenna Crum and Emily Paulson to head home for the 2-0 lead.
- The Vikings insured their lead in the top of the 6th as Brooke Fesenbek singled to left field brining Hailey Rath home for the 3-0 lead.
PITCHING:
- Ashlee Laver pitched another complete game allowing 10 hits, three runs, and three earned runs while getting one strikeout against 31 batters.
- Mareena Ramirez pitched a complete game for the Vikings allowing only one hit and two walks while getting eight strikeouts against 25 batters.
HITTING:
- The lone Wildcat hit came from Harlee Carpenter.
- The Vikings finished with 10 hits led by Williams with three.
GAME 2
SCORING:
- The Vikings struck first in the top of the second inning as Fesenbek doubled to left center brining Taylor Khorrami home for the 1-0 lead.
- The Wildcats responded in the bottom of the fourth inning as Jillian Hampson guided Myiah Seaton home form her single up the middle.
- The Vikings re-took the lead in the top of the fifth as Amaya Davis and Fesenbek were each walked allowing Lexi Barcomb and Rath to head home for the 3-1 lead.
- The Wildcats responded in a huge fashion as Alyssa Benthagen singled up the middle allowing Carpenter to score , which was followed by Seaton doubling to left center brining Allie Thiessen home.
- Still in the bottom of the fifth inning Kate Hopkins reached on a fielding error by the shortstop which allowed both Thiessen and Karsyn Decker to score re-giving the lead to the Wildcats 5-3.
- Laney Kaysner rounded out the fifth inning with a walk brining Hopkins home for the 6-3 lead headed to the top of the sixth inning.
- The Wildcats tacked on again in the bottom of the sixth as Seaton doubled to left center allowing Benthagen and Thiessen to score increasing the Wildcat lead to 8-3.
- The Vikings would get the last score as Fesenbek singled to center field bringing Davis home.
UP NEXT:
- The Wildcats will head back on the road to face a very familiar team in the Montana State Billings Yellow Jackets (8-15, 2-6 GNAC) for a four-game series on Friday and Saturday with Friday's first pitch set for 1:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday's first pitch set for 12:00 p.m. with game two for both days set for a half an hour after the conclusion of game one.
