Wildcats Fall in Final Day at the Tournament of Champions

TURLOCK, Calif. – The Central Washington softball team (16-16, 4-4 GNAC) concluded its time at the annual Tournament of Champions on Sunday with a 0-4 setback to the Chaminade Silverswords (19-18). 
 
SCORING:
 
  • The 'Swords got on the board early as Chasity McKean doubled down the left field line brining Taryn Fujioka and Larchelle Tuifao home for the early 2-0 lead.
  • CU would tack on insurance runs in the sixth when Fujioka would reach on a muffed throw by the first baseman allowing Isabel Rodriguez to score for the 3-0 lead.
  • Still in the sixth inning Bailey Jacobsen would single to center field allowing Fujioka to score to end the scoring on the day at 4-0 in favor of the 'Swords.
 
PITCHING:
 
  • Isabel Womack got the start for the Wildcats, going 1.1 innings and allowing one hit, two runs, two earned runs, and four walks while getting one strikeout against nine batters.
  • Payton Kessler would come in and pitch the rest of the 5.2 innings allowing three hits, two runs, and three walks while getting four strikeouts against 26 batters.
  • Bailey Benson pitched a complete game for the 'Swords allowing only five hits and one walk while getting five strikeouts against 27 batters.

  • The Wildcats will dive back into GNAC play when they head to Monmouth, Ore. for a four-game series against the Wolves of Western Oregon (17-18, 7-3 GNAC) next Friday and Saturday with first-pitch of game one each day happening at noon and game two to follow about 30 minutes after game one concludes.
