PITTSBURGH – Central Washington Special Teams Coordinator and Safeties Coach Ronnie Scott has accepted the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship with NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers.
"I'm honored to be chosen for this internship with such a prestigious NFL organization and culture of winning," Scott said. "I'm excited to soak in all the knowledge and bring as much as possible back to Central for this upcoming season!"
The Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship, which was named after the late Pro Football Hall of Fame head coach which provides experience to outstanding coaches from diverse backgrounds. The program was designed as a vocational tool to increase the number of full-time NFL minority coaches. allows talented coaches to gain extremely valuable experience during the NFL teams' training camps, offseason workout programs, and minicamps. Applicants must meet certain criteria including having been a former NFL player or have coaching experience at the high school, college, or non-NFL professional leagues such as the XFL, CFL, etc.

Scott just recently came to CWU after spending the past season as the Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach at Highland Community college in Highland, Kan. He is a 2018 graduate from Alabama State University with a bachelor's degree in accounting and was a two-year starter and captain for the Hornets football team earning Magic City Classic MVP and First Team All-SWAC honors in 2017.
Scott will be joined by the Head Coach of Valdosta State University, the annual NCAA Division II Football powerhouse, Tremaine Jackson as well as North Carolina Central University Safeties Coach Mike Sewell Jr. and University of Iowa Football Recruiting Specialist Christopher Browne.
Graduate Assistant and Offensive Analyst for the Wildcats Amanda Ruller completed the Fellowship with the Seattle Seahawks this past season.
