RICHARDSON, Texas – Wildcat football safety Tanner Volk has earned his second-straight Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor. 
 
After an excellent performance in helping the Wildcats defeat the 9^th-ranked Angelo State Rams for the 'Cats first win of the season, Volk backed up that performance with another astounding showing in the crimson and blacks 17-7 victory at Western Oregon on Saturday. 
 
Volk led the Wildcat defense that only allowed 206 yards to the WOU offense, including only 99 rushing yards. Volk was instrumental in holding the reigning LSC Offensive Player of the Week Dominique Loggins, who recorded 209 rushing yards the week prior, to just 10 rushing yards during the game. 
 
Volk tied for second-most tackles in the game with four, two solo and two assisted, and recorded one pass breakup. The bread and butter of Volk's play came in the form of two more interceptions which he returned for 33-yards, mimicking the two interceptions he had against ASU last week.

Volk and the Wildcats (2-2) will stay on the road for one more week as they head to the Land of Enchantment to corral the Mustangs of Western New Mexico (1-3) this Saturday at 5:00 p.m. from Silver City, N.M.
