Wildcats to Battle Wolves & Saints in a Pair of Home Contests

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - After splitting their first road conference matchups last weekend, the Central Washington University volleyball team returns home for matchups against Western Oregon (7-4) and Saint Martin's (8-4) this Thursday and Saturday.

ABOUT THE WOLVES
Western Oregon travels to Ellensburg with a 7-4 (1-2 GNAC) record, most recently suffering a four-set loss to Saint Martin's last Saturday. Second-year head coach Kaiao Nahale-a leads the Wolves.
 
Junior outside hitter Madison Hornback is the one to watch out for. She averages a team-high 3.22 kills per set while adding just over three digs per frame on the defensive end. Bailee Hartsook and Kilinoalehua Helm provide steady support with over 2.10 kills each per set. Laney O'Neil and Kealani Rosa share the setting duties.
 
Sophie Matlock, a senior defensive specialist, leads the Wolves with 144 digs. At the net, Bella MacLellan (36) and Chloe Asciutto (35) lead the team in blocks.
 
The Wildcats have a 33-10 all-time record against the Wolves, including an active 12-game winning streak dating back to 2016.
 
ABOUT THE SAINTS
Saint Martin's enters the weekend with an 8-4 (2-1 GNAC) record, led by fourth-year head coach Dan Behnke.
 
Freshman outside hitter Emily Garten has made an immediate impact for the Saints in her early career. Through 12 games, she leads the Saints with 139 kills, an average of 3.23 per set. Sirena Peredo and Emmy Hansen both average at least 2.70 kills per frame as well.
 
Senior setter Karla Soto leads the GNAC in assists per set by a wide margin thus far at 10.40. The trio of Jennifer Soha (38), Maddy Gooding (37), and Hansen (36) command the net, leading the Saints in blocks.
 
In the all-time history between the 'Cats and the Saints, CWU leads 40-2. The Wildcats took both matchups last season between the squads.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats hit the road last weekend for their first road conference challenges of the season. On Thursday, they defeated Montana State Billings in straight sets, followed by a five-set nail-biting loss at Seattle Pacific on Saturday.
 
In Saturday's loss, senior outside hitter Ashley Kaufman recorded her 1,000th career kill with her third kill of the day.
 
Brooke Garman had a statement weekend, leading the Wildcats with 23 kills across both games. Scottie Ellsworth continued doing her thing, tallying 22 kills. Meanwhile, Tia Andaya remained steady, registering 71 assists, 14 blocks, and 25 digs.
