‘Cats Host a Triple of Non-Conference Games to Close First Half of Season

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University men's basketball team (6-3, 2-0 GNAC) looks to finish the first half of the season, hosting a group of non-conference matchups against the Evergreen State College Geoducks on Saturday, Dec 14, the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats on Monday, Dec 16, and the Lincoln University Oaklanders on Thursday, Dec 19.

PREVIOUSLY FOR THE 'CATS
The Wildcats began GNAC play last week with a pair of wins over Simon Fraser University on Dec 5, and Western Washington University on Dec 7. The Crimson and Black defeated the Red Leafs in a dominating 91-65 win and then staged a late comeback against its rival, the Vikings to take the lead and hold off WWU to win 79-76.

The 'Cats were led by Cavin Holden, who scored 42 points in both games and led the team in assists (10), and shooting percentage (.681). Mitch Brizee led the team in rebounds with 16 total, including 13 boards on Dec 7, earning himself a double-double with his 12 points. Garrett Anderson and Maverick Sanders had strong performances under the hoop, getting 15 rebounds each. Jordan Clark had a strong defensive performance, recording four steals on top of scoring 24 points.

ABOUT THE GEODUCKS
Evergreen State has seen a rough start to its season, losing its first five matchups, including two conference losses. The Geoducks, however, won their last game over Northwest University (WA) 85-79, breaking the five-game losing streak.

The Geoducks' leaders include Jourdan Joseph (86 points, 12 assists, and eight steals), Tyler No (.481 FG), Bradley Graham (.400 3pt), and Solomon Campbell (35 rebounds and nine blocks).

The Wildcats and Geoducks face off on Saturday, Dec 14 at 4:00 p.m. from Nicholson Arena.

ABOUT THE BEARCATS
Northwest Missouri State started its season going 2-6, including 1-1 in conference play. Their most recent game was a win over Emporia State on Dec 5. That win broke a four-game losing streak for the Bearcats. They will travel to Nampa, Idaho to take on Northwest Nazarene on Dec 14 before coming to Ellensburg.

The Bearcats' leaders include Emorie Knox (111 points, 33 assists, and 11 steals), Jack Ratigan (.590 FG, 51 rebounds, and 11 blocks), and Spencer Schomers (.412 3pt).

The Wildcats and Bearcats tip off on Monday, Dec 16 at 7:00 p.m. from Nicholson Arena.

ABOUT THE OAKLANDERS
Lincoln University won its first game of the season, defeating Pacific Union College 88-82. The Oaklanders have since lost four straight games. They travel to Saint Martin's to take on the Saints on Dec 17, then head to Ogden, Utah on Dec 18 to take on the Weber State Wildcats before coming to Ellensburg on Dec 19.
