ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University Wildcats men's basketball team (4-3) begins its conference slate this week, hosting the Simon Fraser University Red Leafs on Thursday, Dec 5, and then its rival, the Western Washington University Vikings on Saturday, Dec 7 from Nicholson Arena.

The Wildcats return home following two tournaments that saw the Crimson and Black go 3-1, including an upset win over #13 Point Loma Nazarene University 69-68 on Nov 30. An achievement that put them back in the top ten of the West Region, sitting at #10.
The Crimson and Black were led by
Garrett Anderson, who scored a total of 37 points and recorded 18 rebounds this past week. A performance that earned him the GNAC Player of the Week award. Other leaders this week for the 'Cats include
Maverick Sanders (five steals),
Calvin Sisk (three blocks), and
Jordan Clark (six assists).
ABOUT THE RED LEAFS
Simon Fraser's season started rough, losing its first five games. However, since losing to CSU Dominguez Hills on Nov 9, the Red Leafs have gone 4-1 to bring some optimism back into their record as they sit at 4-6 entering this week.
The Red Leafs are led by Irish Coquia, who has recorded 141 points for 14.1 points per game. Coquia also leads the team in free throws (30-41, .732) and assists (50, 5.0 per game). Other leaders for the Red Leafs include Luke Howard (50-100, .500 field goal percentage, and 14-35, .400 three-point percentage), Matthys Van Bylandt (48 rebounds and 15 blocks), and Tate Christiansen (18 steals)
The Red Leafs and Wildcats kick off the GNAC season on Thursday, Dec 5. Tip-off from Nicholson Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
ABOUT THE VIKINGS
Western Washington has seen a positive start to its season, going 6-1 entering this week of conference play. The Vikings' lone loss was to Westminster on Nov 21. Since then, WWU has won two straight games.
The Vikings are led by Will Wilson, who leads the team in points (113), free throws (26-29, .897), and assists (40, 5.7 per game). Other leaders for the Vikings include Trevor White (36-64, .563 field goal percentage), Kepley Grant (10-17, .588 three-point percentage), Dajon Lott (36 rebounds and 12 blocks), and Louis Grante-Halliday (15 steals).
