OMAHA – Central Washington University sophomore guard
Asher Cai was named the World Exposure Report NCAA Division II National Player of the Week, announced on Wednesday.
The honor comes after Cai helped guide the Wildcats to a weekend split at home last weekend.
Cai helped lead the Wildcats to a 70-65 victory over Simon Fraser last Thursday. Cai led all scores dropping 29 points shooting 12-21 from the field, 3-6 on three-point attempts, and 2-3 at the free-throw line. She added 12 rebounds, one assist, and one block. This was her seventh double-double of the season.
Cai recorded her eighth double-double of the season in the 69-60 setback to Western Washington last Saturday. She drilled 20 points while snagging 10 rebounds. She finished the game shooting 6-17 on field goal attempts, 3-7 from three, and a perfect 5-5 at the free-throw line while adding three assists and one block as well.
Cai and the Wildcats are back in action this weekend making the long trip up to Alaska. They square off against Alaska Fairbanks on Thursday night at 6:15 p.m. Pacific Time before wrapping up their trip up north with a clash at Alaska Anchorage on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
