Wildcats Resume Season at Life

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University women's rugby team (3-2) will head to The Peach State to resume their season against the reigning CRAA USA Rugby College Women's Premier 7's National Champions, the Life University Running Eagles for an 8:00 a.m. PST kick-off from Marietta, Ga.
 
"We're excited to get back at it and into competition this week down in Georgia," CWU Head Women's Rugby Coach Matt Ramirez said. "The team has had a great winter and put in the hard yards in preparation for this spring segment."
 
The Wildcats are looking to build off a strong start to their season going 3-2 in the fall portion of the season. They opened their season with a 41-5 setback at home to Life before bouncing back for a 22-12 victory at BYU followed by a 79-0 victory at Grand Canyon. The Wildcats battled but ultimately fell short 25-12 against Lindenwood at home before wrapping up the fall season with a 103-0 victory over Boise State.
 
Winnie Namosimalua, Jessica Postle, and Vivianne Wright are leading the 'Cats in tries with four apiece with eight other 'Cats converting multiple tries. In total 18 Wildcats have converted at least one successful try. Kai Brandt-Templeton has remained lights out in her senior season successfully making 18 conversions in the first half of the season.
 
The Wildcats will look to snap a seven-match losing streak to the Running Eagles with their last victory coming on March 27, 2021, down at Life by a 10-5 score.
 
The Running Eagles are 5-1 on the season with their sole setback coming at Lindenwood by a 27-0 final back on October 21. Life has already sprung into their spring segment of the season posting a 106-0 victory over Penn State. Life saw multiple tries from Allexia English and Harlie Kallichuk in the victory.
 
Following the battle against Life, the Wildcats will continue their road warrior status with another battle, next Saturday, March 9 at Lindenwood. The Wildcats and Lady Lions will clash at 5:00 p.m. PST from St. Charles, Mo.
