Wildcats Lose to Yellowjackets, 76-69

BILLINGS, Montana. – Central Washington lost 76-69 to Montana State Billings on Saturday night. Four Yellowjackets scored in double figures led by Daniel Moody scoring 17 points.

"We had some good stretches tonight. Especially defending and rebounding. It takes a complete game to beat a team like MSUB on their home court. They are very good defensively and forced us into too many turnovers."

NOTABLE STATS
  • Samaad Hector got another double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in the loss.
  • Anjaylo Lloyd scored 14 points, Cavin Holden put up ten points, and Bradley Swillie added nine points.
  • The Yellowjackets turned 16 Wildcat turnovers into 23 points.
  • Montana State Billings also had 17 fastbreak points to Central Washington's 10. The Yellowjackets also scored 15 points from the free throw line.
FIRST HALF
  • Montana State Billings built an 11-2 lead in the first three minutes of the game. Central Washington responded with a 6-0 run and a three from Anjaylo Lloyd gave the 'Cats the 13-12 advantage.
  • Samaad Hector buried a triple for his tenth point of the night that put Central Washington up by one, 26-25, with 7:42 left in the half.
  • The Yellowjackets hit three from beyond the arc, including back-to-back threes from Daniel Moody and Zharon Richmond to close the half. At the break, Montana State Billings led 42-39.
  • Montana State Billings defense forced ten Wildcat turnovers in the first half.
SECOND HALF
  • Five minutes in, Central Washington went on an 8-0 run. Jello capped off the run with a layup to put the Wildcats up 52-50.
  • After the Yellowjackets went on a 6-0 run, Cavin Holden hit a layup to cut the 'Cats deficit to four. At this point, the game was going to shift in favor of one team. Next, Montana State Billings rattled off eight straight points to go up by 12 and seize control of the game.
  • The Wildcats fought back late and Bradley Swillie's layup got Central Washington within four, 73-69 with under a minute left. The Yellowjackets made their free throws in the final minute to secure the 76-69 victory.
UP NEXT
  • Central Washington returns home next week to face the Alaska teams in Nicholson Arena. The Wildcats play Alaska Fairbanks on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and then face Alaska Anchorage on Saturday at 6:15 p.m.
