ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University women's rugby team (3-4) will honor nine seniors in their final home game welcoming the BYU Cougars (3-4) to Tomlinson Stadium for a Saturday morning clash at 11:00 a.m.
The Wildcats will be honoring the following seniors approximately 10 minutes before kickoff:
Jennilyn Aquino,
Kai Brandt-Templeton,
Georgia Budd,
Tessa Hann,
Noelle Inverso,
Emma McCabe,
Elise Norris,
Sammy Stern, and
Zonaye Tupuola.
"We'll be challenging the team this week in preparation for BYU," CWU Head Women's Rugby Coach Matt Ramirez said. "BYU is a well-coached squad that comes out firing, so our preparation needs to be on point. We've had our obstacles the past two weeks on the road, so we are excited to be back in Tomlinson with the home crowd."
The Wildcats will look to stop a two-game skid after falling 46-15 at Lindenwood a week ago. CWU took a 22-12 victory at BYU in the fall with McCabe, Aquino,
Vivianne Wright, and
Jessica Postle, all making it into the try zone with Brandt-Templeton drilling a conversion for the Wildcats.
This is the Cougar's first year in the College Rugby Association of America Women's D1 Elite League, making the jump with Grand Canyon this season.
The Wildcats are 9-4 against BYU all-time and 5-2 against the Cougars in Tomlinson Stadium.
Central will turn their attention to the USA Rugby D1 Elite Playoffs on March 30th and if victorious, April 13th.
