Wildcats Look to Clip Running Eagles in USA Rugby D1 Elite Semifinals

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University women's rugby team prepares for a big matchup in the opening round of the USA Rugby D1 Elite Playoffs as they head to The Peach State to take on Life University this Saturday at 4:00 p.m. PST in Marietta, Georgia.

"It's playoff time, and every week is a final," CWU Head Women's Rugby Coach Matt Ramirez said. "I'm proud of this squad and their determination to improve and grow. It's time to put a complete performance together, and the team is up for it. We're excited to get down there and get to work."

This will be the third matchup between the two squads this season, and the second one in Georgia. Life took the 41-5 victory in Ellensburg to open the Wildcats season. CWU then opened the new year travelling down to Life and fell 22-0.

The Wildcats and Running Eagles will meet for the fourth-straight season in the opening round of the USA Rugby D1 Elite Playoffs. The Running Eagles have won all three meetings winning the first matchup in Ellensburg 29-20 in 2021, then defeating the Wildcats in Marietta 38-0 in 2022, then sneaking away with a 22-19 victory in Annapolis, Maryland last season.

The winner of the match will advance to the USA Rugby D1 Elite Championship game held on Saturday, April 13.
