ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University women's rugby team (3-3) will head to St. Charles, Missouri for a battle with the Lindenwood Lady Lions (7-1) at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time from inside Hunter Stadium.
"We're looking forward to a great matchup this weekend under the lights in St. Charles," CWU Head Women's Rugby Coach Matt Ramirez said. "Lindenwood is a dynamic team on attack and is disciplined on defense. We are focused on getting our details and learnings sorted during this week of prep before we head East again."
The Wildcats are looking to bounce back after a 22-0 setback at Life last weekend.
Central will look to earn its first victory ever over the Lady Lions after having a thrilling 25-12 setback in the fall against LU in Tomlinson Stadium. The Lady Lions entered halftime with a 15-0 lead but a pair of tries by
Jessica Postle and a conversion by
Kai Brandt-Templeton made it 15-12 LU with 16 minutes left. Unfortunately, the Lady Lions nabbed a pair of tries to seal the 25-12 victory.
The Lady Lions entered the spring portion of the schedule 6-1 with their only setback coming back on September 30 at Davenport by a 27-14 score. Lindenwood earned a 52-8 victory against BYU to open the spring portion of their schedule. The Cougars managed to take the 3-0 lead in only the second minute, but it was all the Lady Lions from there as Amy Brice and Freda Tafuna each nailed multiple tries in the victory.
Following their battle in The Show-Me State the Wildcats will prepare for their sole home battle of the spring schedule, welcoming the BYU Cougars (3-3) for a Saturday, March 16 clash at 11:00 a.m.
