ELLENSBURG, Wash.- The Wildcats would quite literally walk-off game two, winning off a bases loaded walk with
Noah Juarez at the plate. The Central Washington University baseball team would split day one with the Western Oregon University Wolves on Saturday seeing the Wolves win game one by a final score of 11-3, and seeing the Wildcats walk off game two in the 8th inning to win 5-4.

"Thought we played well today, we're looking to come out with more consistency and intensity tomorrow. Our guys battled back and came out with a win in game two but we need to clean it up tomorrow and play our game. Thought Alex pitched well in game one, just lost it towards the end, the bullpen guys did a good job in relief. Garza had another good outting in game two with great relief from Milliman and Kearsey."
Game 1:CWU-3 WOU- 11
The Wildcats would fall in game one to the Wolves with the final score being Western Oregon 11, Central 3.
Alex Brady would get the nod in game one for the Wildcats, tossing 4.2 innings pitched with 7 strikeouts for CWU.
Austin Ohland would finish 2-4 at the plate and
Ben Leid would go 1-3 with a double and RBI.
Scoring:
- Ohland would single to left to score Jake Madson in the bottom of the third inning. Ben would keep it going with an RBI double scoring Ohland to grow the Wildcat lead 2-0.
- The Wolves would put up 6 runs in the top of the fifth inning being topped off and highlighted by an RBI triple by Western Oregon. 2-6.
- The Wildcats would get one back in the bottom of the fifth off a single to right center by Andrew Sharp that would score Marcus Manzardo to make it 3-6.
- Cortese would hit a sac fly for the Wolves in the sixth to make it 3-7.
- He would then double to score two more in the eight for Western Oregon, 3-9.
- A pair of unearned runs would score in the ninth for WOU to make it 3-11.
Hitting:
- The Wildcats would finish game one with 3 runs off 7 hits highlighted by Ohland and Leid. Manzardo would finish game one going 2-5 at the plate, Jake Madson would pick up a hit finishing 1-4 with a stolen base, and Jake Felton would also add a stolen base.
- The Wolves would finish with 11 runs off of 13 hits in the game with Herzog finishing 3-4, Cortese finishing 2-4, Irwin 2-5, and Bischoff 2-5.
Pitching:
- Alex Brady would toss 4 scoreless innings for the Wildcats, he would get 2 outs into his fifth inning of work before being relieved by Drew Richardson who would toss 2.2 innings in relief. Aaron Robertson would pitch 1.2 innings in relief of Richardson. Brady would be tagged with the loss, moving his season record to 1-3.
- Dylan Chalmers would get the start and win for the Wolves, pitching 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs off 6 hits. The Wolves bullpen would allow one hit in 3.0 innings of relief pitching.
Game 2: CWU-5 WOU-4
The Wildcats would load the bases in the bottom of the eighth inning when Juarez would load the count full, watching a high ball four go by to score Leid lifting the Wildcats to victory.
Beau Kearsey would pick up the win out of the 'pen for the 'Cats, he would pitch 0.1 inning in the game, coming in to help keep the Wolves scoreless in the top half of the inning.
Jake Felton finished 1-1 at the plate and would wear a pitch for the 9th time this season and Manzardo would finish 1-2 at the plate for the Wildcats while also getting HBP.
Scoring:
- The Wolves would get a pair of unearned runs in the second inning to jump ahead early 0-2..
- The Wildcats would add one in the third off an RBI single to left center by Ohland to make it 1-2.
- The 'Cats would add 3 runs in the fourth to take the lead, Noah Juarez would hit a deep SAC fly to left to score Sharp. Manzardo would hit a SAC fly to center to score Felton. And Baba Varner Jr. would double to right scoring Brady Hinkle. 4-2.
- The Wolves would tie it up in the sixth inning on unearned runs. 4-4.
- The Wildcats would load the bases with two batters getting HBP and another reaching on a fielder's choice. Noah Juarez would watch one high for ball four advancing Leid who would come in to score the winning run. 5-4.
Hitting:
- The Wildcats would finish game two with 5 runs off 4 hits in the contest seeing Felton go 1-1 at the plate and Manzardo 1-2 with an RBI. Baba would hit a double and record an RBI for the 'Cats, and Juarez would finish with 2 RBI.
- The Wolves would get 4 runs off of 5 hits in the contest with 0 earned runs in the game. Alarcon would finish 2-4 at the plate.
Pitching:
- Jonathan Garza II would get the start for the Wildcats, pitching 5.1 innings allowing 5 hits and striking out 7 batters. Nolan Milliman would come in to pitch 2.1 innings in relief of Garza, Milli would strike out 3 batters and allow no hits. Beau Kearsey would secure the win in the contest tossing an important 0.1 inning in relief.
