RICHARDSON, Texas – Central Washington University senior defensive back
Chase Coalson was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week making it four-straight weeks a Wildcat has been a LSC Player of the Week honoree with Coalson following back-to-back weeks of
David Weber earning the Special Teams honor and the week before that
Samaje Featherstone earning the Special Teams honor as well.

Coalson helped lead the Wildcat defense in their thrilling 19-17 victory over Western Oregon to secure the programs first Lone Star Conference title with a double-digit tackle performance. He finished with 10 total tackles, seven solo and three assisted. He also added a half tackle for loss, a pass breakup, and one quarterback hurry. It is the second time this season that he has reached double-digit tackles, matching his 10 tackle total in the season-opening Rodeo Bowl victory over Colorado Mesa and is the only Wildcat to accomplish double-digit tackles in a game this season.
The Gig Harbor, Washington native is the leading tackler for the 'Cats this season after earning the honorary 44 jersey prior to the start of the season. Coalson has tallied 68 total tackles: 35 solo and 33 assisted and has added four tackles for loss, one interception, six pass breakups, one quarterback hurry, and one fumble recovery to his outstanding 2025 season.
Coalson and the 'Cats will put their season-long work into the first round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs when CWU (10-1) hosts the Western Colorado Mountaineers (9-2) for the third-straight first round clash between the two squads, but the first in Ellensburg. The 'Cats and Mountaineers kick off at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22 from Steve Hertling Field at Tomlinson Stadium.
