Wildcats Get Festive for Thanksgiving Classic in Seattle

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University men's basketball team (5-2) heads back out on the road following the Thanksgiving holiday to Seattle, Wash., to take part in the SPU Thanksgiving Classic—taking on No. 4 Point Loma (4-0) and Vanguard (3-1).

PREVIOUSLY FOR THE 'CATS
Central had a strong opening homestand after coming from behind to defeat Chico State 94-89 in overtime on Friday and then blowing out Walla Walla 104-71 on Saturday.
 
The Wildcats were led by Bradley Swillie, who recorded 46 points for a .654 shooting percentage. Swillie also led in assists with nine and steals with six. Jalen Childs, Jamari Harris, and Chae Haynes all led in rebound, each recording 11 boards. Childs and Jordan Clark each recorded three blocks.
 
ABOUT THE SEA LIONS
Point Loma enters this week at No. 4 in the country after opening the season 4-0. The Sea Lions had some strong victories in their first week—defeating No. 12 Cal State Dominguez Hills 90-82 and Cal State San Bernardino 87-66. PLNU found two more victories last week after defeating Cal State San Marcos 75-61 on Wednesday, Nov. 19, and then convincingly beating Stanton 101-67.
 
The Sea Lions are led, offensively, by James Nobles with 62 points for 15.5 per game, followed by Andrew Nagy with 56 points. Nagy also leads the team from the field—going 25-42 for a .595 shooting percentage, and rebounds with 29 boards. Jaden Matingou has passed well with 17 assists, while Tyce Paulsen leads with five steals. Andrew Hommes guards the net with nine total blocks.
 
The Wildcats and Sea Lions hit the court on Friday, Nov. 28. Tip off from the Royal Brougham Pavilion in Seattle is set for 4:15 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE LIONS
Vanguard has had a strong open to its season—going 3-1 through its first two weeks of the season. The Lion's only loss came at the hands of No. 12 Cal State Dominguez Hills 57-68 on Nov. 15.
 
The Lions are led by Erik Howlin on the offensive side—recording 59 points, followed by Bryson Metz with 52. Metz leads the team in field goal percentage—going 19-41 for .463. Howlin also leads in passing with 10 assists, while Tony Colley leads in steals with nine takeaways. Aibigho Ujadughele leads under the hoop with 25 rebounds, including 11 offensive boards, and Pape Momar Cisse leads in blocks with two total.


The Wildcats take on the Lions on Saturday, Nov. 29. Tip off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
