RICHARDSON, Texas – Central Washington University junior kicker
David Weber was tabbed as the Lone Star Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning. This marks back-to-back Special Teams Players of the Week by CWU as Weber joins
Samaje Featherstone who won the honor last week and becomes the third Wildcat to earn the distinction with
Beau Phillips earning the honor at the end of September.
"We are very excited for David and are excited to have him kicking for the 'Cats," CWU Head Football Coach
Chris Fisk said. "He has been a great addition to our locker room, and we are excited to see him grow as a teammate and a player."
Weber was once again kept busy in the 'Cats victory over ranked Angelo State in the regular season home finale. He finished the game a perfect 5/5 on PAT attempts and tacked on a 31-yard field goal that helped add insurance in the fourth quarter.
The native of Sevelen, Switzerland joined the 'Cats this season and has been nothing short of impressive. He started the season making his first eight field goal attempts, including a 3/3 performance against Eastern New Mexico that included his longest successful field goal this season of 49 yards. He's also currently 53/54 on PAT attempts this season with his only miss coming in the season-opening Rodeo Bowl against Colorado Mesa but has currently made 50-straight PAT attempts since.
Weber and the 'Cats will wrap up the regular season with back-to-back road clashes. They first head on the programs first-ever trip to Alpine, Texas to face the Sul Ross State Lobos (0-9, 0-7 LSC) this Saturday, November 8 for a 6:00 p.m. PST kickoff on Jackson Field.
