Wildcats Lose Pair in Nampa

NAMPA, Idaho – The Central Washington University Softball Team fell in a pair of nonconference games against conference foes in Idaho Friday afternoon.

GAME 1:
 
SCORING:
 
  • The Yellowjackets opened the floodgates in the second inning when Lauren Blaschak homered to left field.
  • Later in the second Kennedy Dypwick tripled to right center field to score Winter Hurst and Grace Hood and make it 3-0 MSUB.
  • Marleigh Nieto singled up the middle to score Dypwick followed by Kaylin Galvin reaching on an error by the first baseman to score Nieto and Jazlyn Kalehuawehe singling to right field to score Galvin and make it 6-0 Yellowjackets after the second inning.
  • The Wildcats got on the board in the fourth inning thanks to a three-run homerun by Serena Perez who scored Brooke Blocker and Mia Flores in the process, making it 6-3 MSUB.
  • MSUB tacked on in the seventh when Blaschak doubled to left center to score Neito and Bryn Lucht followed by a single from Hurst to right field to score Blaschak and make it 9-3 'Jackets.
  • McKayla Cable earned the final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh when she doubled to left center to score Karsyn Decker and make it a 9-4 MSUB game.
 
HITTING:
 
  • Decker paced the 'Cats with two hits while Cable, Blocker, Perez, and Ashtyn Falor all contributed one hit.
  • Perez had three RBI.
  • Flores and Perez each drew one walk.
  • Nieto and Blaschak each had three hits with Blaschak leading the 'Jackets with three RBI.
 
PITCHING:
 
  • Zoey Theophilus pitched 6.2 innings allowing 11 hits, nine runs with seven earned, and no walks, but struck out six of the 32 batters faced.
  • Ellie Gilbert came on for the final out allowing one hit and one walk against three batters.
  • Emily Watters pitched the full seven innings for MSUB allowing six hits, four runs with three earned, and three walks while striking out 12 of 32 batters.
 
GAME 2:
 
SCORING:
 
  • Emma Mulligan broke the scoreless game in the third inning when she tripled to left center field to score Annie Swanson and make it 1-0 NNU.
  • Emma Bumatay added on in the sixth inning when she singled to right center to score Ava Clark and was followed by Keana Bell sacrificing herself to the right fielder to score Molly Buckingham and make it 3-0 NNU.
 
HITTING:
 
  • The Wildcats saw one hit apiece from Jessica Reitz-Eaton, Abby Watkins, and Blocker.
  • Falor drew the only walk for CWU.
  • The Nighthawks had four different players record one hit apiece.
  • NNU had three different players record one RBI.
  • Clark drew two walks to lead NNU.
 
PITCHING:
 
  • Payton Kessler pitched all six innings allowing for hits, three runs, and four walks while striking out two of 25 batters faced.
  • Miah Lusk pitched all seven innings for NNU allowing three hits, no runs, and one walk and struck out seven of 25 batters.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
 
  • The Wildcats now lead the all-time series against MSUB 58-33.
  • The Wildcats are 6-4 over the Yellowjackets in their past 10 matchups.
  • CWU is 10-4 against MSUB in neutral site games.
