ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington University men's basketball team (14-6, 8-2 GNAC) looks to maintain its first-place ranking in the GNAC as it hosts the University of Alaska Anchorage (11-13, 4-7 GNAC) on Thursday, Feb 6 for Military Appreciation Day sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps, and the University of Alaska Fairbanks (9-11, 5-6 GNAC) on Saturday, Feb 8.

Central is coming off a one-game week after it defeated Northwest Nazarene University, with
Maverick Sanders hitting a buzzer-beating three-pointer at the end of overtime to win 91-88 as the Wildcats took sole possession of the GNAC's top spot.
CWU's offense was very efficient for the game, with seven Wildcats scoring in the double-digits led by
Garrett Anderson with 17 total points. They also include Anderson,
Cavin Holden (14), Sanders (13),
Jordan Clark (12),
Mitch Brizee (12),
Jamari Harris (12), and
Bradley Swillie (11). Sanders also led in rebounds with seven boards and blocks with four.
ABOUT THE SEAWOLVES
Alaska Anchorage's conference slate has been a series of highs and lows for the Seawolves. They started GNAC play with a 3-1 record before going a rough slide, losing six straight games. UAA has found itself back in the win column though with its most recent game, a 59-58 win over Simon Fraser.
The Seawolves have a round group of statistical leaders. They include Tyler Burraston, who leads in scoring with 321 points. Bishop Tosi leads in rebounds with 148 total boards, while Sean Evans moves the ball well, leading with 88 assists. Hasaan Herrington leads in steals with 34 takeaways, and Jesse Stines leads in blocks with 17 total.
The Wildcats and Seawolves face off on Thursday, Feb 6. Tip-off from Nicholson Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PST
ABOUT THE NANOOKS
Alaska Fairbanks has seen its season go down the middle for the most part. The Nanooks' conference record is currently 5-6 which puts them in seventh place in the competitive GNAC. They're currently on a four-game skid entering this week after having a strong 4-2 start in GNAC play.
The Nanooks are led by Isaiah Saams-Hoy, who currently leads the team in points (319), steals (32), and blocks (23). UAF's other statistical leaders include Elyon Zevenbergen, who leads in rebounds with 138 total boards, and Chris Lee, who leads in assists with 71 total.
