SEATTLE – Central Washington University junior captain Jessica Postle is the latest Wildcat to be nominated for the prestigious MA Sorensen Award.
 
The Sorensen Award is handed out to the best women's collegiate rugby athlete each year. The award is named after World Cup-winning Eagle MA Sorensen, who went on to blaze trails as a player, coach, and doctor. The award is presented every year by the Washington Athletic Club of Seattle since its induction in 2016. The current list of 16 nominees will be trimmed to four or five when the Collegiate Rugby Community votes and the winner will be determined by the awards panel which includes Sorensen herself. The winner will officially receive her award at a gala in Seattle in June. 
 
Of the nine previous award-winners, all but the only non-American have been capped at either 7s or 15s including 2023 winner and CWU alumni Keia Mae Sagapolu who is currently a prop on the USA Eagles and plays professionally in England with the Leicester Tigers.
 
"Congratulations to Jessica on the nomination," CWU Head Women's Rugby Coach Matt Ramirez said. "She came into the start of the season with high standards for herself and the squad. She has worked her tail off everyday on the field and in the classroom to reach this point. Her success isn't an accident. I'm happy to see her get the recognition and I'm excited getting to see continuous growth in her game every day."
 
This is Postle's first nomination for the MA Sorensen award and continues the CWU tradition of having an athlete nominated for the award with multiple Wildcats earning a nomination for the award over the past several seasons.
 
Postle has had a standout season already in 2024-25 posting two tries, one penalty kick, and seven conversion kicks. She was also named the 8x8 Sports D1A National Player of the Week following a one try and two conversion kick day at BYU in the fall.
